Dawn Lawrence Professional Trainer, Owner and Advocate My love of all animals started when I was very young. My first babysitter was a Mother Goose and there are family stories of my father taking me out to bring in the cows when I was 18 months old. I grew up on farms with cows, chickens, horses and the goose as my daily companions. I also had dogs all of my life and trained them through kindness, and positive reinforcement (even though I could not have told anyone what that meant at the time). Each dog that I have been privileged to know has brought new knowledge, friendship, and a deep understanding of dogs (and other animals) ability to help people heal, and cope with the stresses of life.
I started training animals when I was eight years old. My trainer was my father, my mother, and my aunt who raised and showed Schipperkes. I have trained horses, cats, dogs, sheep, and any animal dad brought home after work. This multi-animal background has become the foundation of my dog training.
It is my desire to give people and their dogs a way to have fun, reduce stress and fully enjoy their relationship. This process starts with the basics of training. I will work with you to set and achieve doable goals that will help you and your dog grow closer together as you train together.
I have a lifetime of experience to draw on in my dog training, and in my interactions with people. This experience will help me help you to make a deeper and profound connection with your dog.
I enjoy working with all types of dogs and people. Happy Dog Basics private, in-home sessions are exactly what I looked for in training my service dog partner, and it added further depth to what I love to do. I now look forward to sharing with you what I have learned over my lifetime.
